THE TOXIC BASTARDS Electronic Live Performance
Already at an early age Donato Melillo & Michele Albanese alias The Toxic Bastards were keen on music. Encouraged by their home they got lessons in playing organ and accordion. The rest of their free time they spent playing in the sandpit or thinking up new tricks…
Years passed and both of them chose different ways. While Donato was working as House-DJ in different clubs Michele was struggling along as a “guitar-man” in a trash-metal band. Thanks to an coincidence the former neighbours got in contact and Donato showed Michele his latest acquisition: A “Roland MC 303” - Foundation was formed for electronic worlds of sounds: the Toxic Bastards.
They had their first gig at a school party, where they caused big sensation. Meanwhile the whole thing has been going great professional guns. The individual set finds its public and crowded dance floors full of screaming people are nothing unusual. The style of music is not commercial and conventional but surprises with a mixture of Techno / House and grooving Hooklines which turn out very well.

Press: Südkurier, summer ‚01 Von Housegemachten Beatz Electronic music – who does not know it. Powerful beats hammer all over the dance floors of the clubs. Basses are roaring in the intestinal and the body trembles all over with the vibes and loops of the synthetic music. The secret stars of the sound, however, are not necessarily the DJ’s, who string together the already produced sound constructions but – even if you won’t believe – true musicians. For example the musician duo Michele Albanese (26) and Donato Melillo (24) alias “Toxic Bastards” from Engen, Germany. These two friends have already known each other from childhood. So, they did not only share shovel and bucket while enjoying a close sand pit friendship, but mainly their passion for music. Before joining a band, both went different ways. Michele was established in the heavy metal scene and played in the band “Agregata” own compositions and co-versions coming from the spheres of heavy metal. Donato got some experiences as DJ in some regional clubs and on some parties playing progressive House and Techno. Soon, however, they realized that this was not the right way for both of them and they decided to start a common project: “Toxic Bastards”. On the spot Donato bought a synthesizer and they start experimentations, not only in sound. This was in the 1998. Step by step their equipment increased and the list of further synths, drum-machines, samplers has filled their “Toxicostudios” in which they give head to the science of sound. Toxic Bastards have been influenced by psychedelic artists like “Kraftwerk”, “Pink Floyd” & “The Doors”. Their music is like a bizarre picture of their idols mixed with electronic house-music & beats of these days. Shrill & filigree sounds join monotone bass-structures , then, like a “HAGELSTURM”, drum-structures fill the room like a thunder directly into the minds of the audience. The different parts of the set of the “Jungelektroniker” are confusing and weird at the same time like when drinking whiskey with jam. The structure of their performance is built on own songs and improvisations that reflect the mood of the dance-floor. So during their sets they create interesting variations like the German rock-group “CAN”, however electronically interpreted. Their intention of playing live electronic sound , was to show the crowd, that not only a Deejay can make them dance!! These don’t make music, they play it…YEAH? By the way, their strange name “Toxic Bastards” stands for a intoxicated symbiosis on mankind and industry , the “MENSCHMASCHINE”. As a symbol of their critical view of things it must be ELECTRO, music made by machines.

THE TOXIC BASTARDS Electronic Live Performance
